The Diaper Drawer is run by myself- Rhiana Wackenhuth, a Christian stay at home mom of 4 children. I began cloth diapering in May 2004 with the birth of my 3rd child. I admit, I was wayyy skeptical of using cloth diapers. What will the upkeep be like? Will I be able to stomach the poop and washing? How many do I need? It all seemed so overwhelming. Once I began browsing the web and ordering some diapers, the more and more addicted I got to the idea, and I was sold.

My son ended up having eczema, and our pediatrician advised us to stick with cloth diapers, as the chemicals in disposables are irritating to his sensative skin. While I did use the occasional disposable diaper, knowing that the cloth was helping his skin, as well as the earth, it was better than using them all the time.

Fast forward to 2009, the birth of my 4th child. She also ended up with eczema, and when I would wear a certain brand of disposable on her, her legs would flare up in a wicked rash. It was so bad that at night, it was keeping her awake, and she was constantly moving her legs around and crying. Thankfully we got the eczema under control with a natural eczema cream and by using cloth diapers.

It is a goal of mine to raise my children in an environment that is as natural as possible. Before reading up on a more natural way of living, I admit, we didn't eat or live so naturally. I am slowly transitioning my family to a more natural way, a more healthy and earth conscious way. I hope that I can be here for you if you have any questions.
